Micheal - A Special Poem
In Heaven
Heaven’s the place where the world stops
A place to live and breathe
But the people that we leave behind
Still continue to grieve
In heaven we can finally rest
The way we’ve wanted to
No pain or blisters to deal with
No bandages to do
In heaven we can spread our wings
And be true butterflies
Our beautiful colors shine through
Because in heaven our disease dies
Our souls live on forever
Our spirits still survive
But all the evil in our life
And our pain subsides
Heaven has its’ angels
We all know this is true
But don’t forget the butterflies
Floating all around you
Selected by Michael Whatley in Memory of Brittany Woneis 10-6- 2003, Written by Cristina, Shared by Dr. Gary Bellus.
The day before Michael passed away he was at the hospital for day surgery to have his bandages changed. It was at this time that Michael selected this poem called, In Heaven, written by Cristina- another young woman with EB. Michael wanted to give this poem to Brittany’s mother. Dr. Bellus shared this poem with many of the people that worked with both Michael and Brittany.
