Josh, a.k.a. "Spike"
I had Josh, or as he liked to be called, "Spike", every year he was at Camp Discovery. He was a great kid and his personality is what really stuck with me. He always had a smile on his face and could make anyone laugh. When I first met Spike, I didn't know what to do or say because I had never dealt with a child with EB before,
but he soon put me at ease and we bonded very quickly. I remember sitting in his bunk with him and night and chatting, he wouldn't ever want to go to sleep, he just wanted to stay up all night talking and listening to music. Spike was always willing to try anything once- I remember when we got him onto a horse and another time we got him to come on the Dairy Queen trip. I have many fond memories of Spike, and I miss him a lot. I know he is in a better place now, watching over us and making everyone up there laugh with the horn on his wheelchair!
